HISTORY

THE DISCOVERY OF CALLIPYGE

In 1992, Animal Sciences Professor and Applied Geneticist Frank Hendrix lead a team that discovered the Callipyge gene. In addition, Frank discovered the inheritance pattern, a groundbreaking discovery that pathed the way for genetic silencing research and pharmaceuticals. Today, these discoveries are being used to develop treatments for cancers, diabetes, and schizophrenia to name a few. The discovery of the inheritance of Callipyge has helped save thousands of lives.

Today, Callipyge Genetics is applying new genetic discoveries for the advancement of agriculture, offering the world’s first DNA-based certification.
